The EzGo golf cart is powered by an installed conversion battery pack made with low capacity Nissan Leaf battery modules - 58Ah measured capacity (the modules in packs for sale have a minimum of 60Ah). It contains 7 such Nissan Leaf modules, 14 cells total. Total energy capacity 3100Wh. The pack is very light - about 65lb. Size 13.5x9x9"

The EzGo golf cart is owned by our shop, it has the original motor and controller, but reprogrammed to the maximum speed of 19.5MPH and with the fastest acceleration possible (Thanks to Gary A, Orlando, FL). Motor is rated 3200W, but during the tests the measured maximum peak power reached 11000W. During climbing uphill the average power was 5000-6000W. As a result the motor almost burned during the tests. It was running nonstop for an hour and became very hot and smell burning.

The odometer was calibrated with no more than 3% error. The driver tryed to keep all the time the maximum speed of 19MPH - there is no difference in the maximum speed during climbing or rolling down. As result the average speed was 14.5MPH.

The pack installed for the tests is similar to:

The test was made twice - we had electric brake problem during the first test. Brake stuck few times during the driving. Second test was made after the brake been replaced.

On the second test we calculated 2750Wh for the first 27 miles, based on the discharging diagram of the battery and the voltage of the 27th mile. That makes 100Wh per mile energy spent from the battery. At the power outlet via the charger and loses during charging process - XXXX (will be updated)

 VOLTAGE/ MILES TRAVELED DIAGRAM

The total miles traveled until the BMS stopped the discharge were 29 at the second test. The BMS is set to 3V per cell - 42V as minimum voltage. We recommend using 50-51V as a minimum, since there is not so much power left in the battery. At the 50V point - we had 2.5 miles more left.

On a grassy (golf course) terrain expect less miles. Some clients reported 18-22 miles maximum range if driving partially on grass.

For higher range (more than double) consider installing the 6400Wh Battery Pack DIY53120-15.

Video of the test track

Total round trip traveled 0.55 mi including: 0.2 mi climbing, 0.075 mi flat terrain, 0.2 miles downhill, 0.075 mi flat.

Average speed: 13 mi/hMPH with frequent stops and acceleration.
